UK Charity Week

It's that time of the year when we are at our most giving, but giving can take many forms. Many charities are in desperate need of trustees to oversee the running of the charity's affairs; members to support the charity's activities and keep things running smoothly; and volunteers to help out with activities and events. The UK Charity Week and other websites are packed with information, activities, fundraising ideas and ways to get involved. For further info, click on the link below.

We at Blue Ridge Accounting Services are proud supporters of the hard work and dedication of our local charities and the not-for-profit sector. Our services are aimed at helping charities, community groups, clubs and CICs to keep on top of their financial obligations giving them the freedom to grow and to enable them to deliver the services they were set up to do. For a no obligation chat, why not give us a call on 07803 816800 or drop us a line at office@blueridgeaccounts.co.uk

HMRC clamp down on taxi drivers

HMRC is targeting what it sees as ‘high risk’ sectors for under-declared tax or tax evasion, where cash-in-hand work or widespread use of cash is prevalent. Initially their efforts will be concentrated on taxi drivers, mini cab drivers and scrap metal merchants. From April 2022 taxi drivers are required to complete a tax check online using their government gateway account before renewing their licences. They will then have to confirm to HMRC that they pay their taxes in full before the license can be renewed with the local licensing authorities. If they have underpaid tax and lie to HMRC about it, they could lose their license to operate and could potentially leave themselves open to criminal prosecution. For further information and guidance on the tax check published by the Low Incomes Tax Reform Group (LITRG) click on the link below.

Here at Blue Ridge Accounting Services, we specialise in small to medium businesses and sole traders, including taxi/mini cab drivers. Our bookkeeping service will help you keep on top of your statutory obligation as a business owner to keep clear, accurate accounting records. We can provide you with management reports and cashflow forecasts to help you plan for the future and those unforeseen costly repairs to your vehicle. Why not book a free one hour no obligation discovery call to find out how we can work together to keep you compliant and keep the tax man from your door!
